1MISSION is a community development organization giving people in poverty the opportunity to earn a house by serving their community. We operate in Mexico, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. We hope to break the cycle of poverty by empowering people with the opportunities to learn new skills to earn their own secure house. Many of our participants are living in unsecure, substandard housing – always at risk, and especially at risk during these times.
In this COVID-19 crisis, our 1MISSION staff in Mexico – like the rest of our team in the United States – are stuck at home. The families abroad earn their house by serving their community: creating community gardens, learning to earn their GED, learning sewing skills, and much more. New house construction is now on hold, causing a lot of our hard-working families to continue living in substandard housing – at a greater risk of disease than many of us.
Prayer Request
Please pray for our team, their families, and the local communities in Mexico, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. Pray for health and protection against COVID-19. Also, pray for continued support and resources for our ministries to be able to build more houses.
