About This Project:

Bethesda Medical Center has been serving the people of Northern Haiti with high quality medical care for over 55 years. Bethesda was started by an American nurse who was treating patients in a small hut.  Over the past 50 years Bethesda has grown and we now treat around 100 patients a day.  Many of these patients come from far away and arrive at Bethesda for 5am.

Our services include general consultation, laboratory, X ray, pharmacy, physical therapy, dental and maternity.  We also have specialised clinics for tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, ante natal, malnutrition, diabetes, high blood pressure and vaccinations. Our patients pay a small fee but for many even this fee is too much, however people know when they come to Bethesda they won’t be turned away…even if they cannot pay.

At Bethesda we are not just concerned with physical health, but we are also concerned with spiritual health.  Our patients hear the word of God in morning devotions before they get seen by a healthcare professional.  Our staff are Christians and take opportunities to share the gospel and pray with patients as they feel led. We seek to share the hope the gospel brings to people who are often feeling hopeless due to poverty and illness.
