For more than 15 years, Billy Banda has been faithfully serving in Malawi, Africa. Malawi, a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, is an extremely poor country where more than two-thirds of the population lives in abject poverty. Where everyday survival is a struggle, Billy is bringing hope and practical relief – being a tangible expression of Christ’s love. Through his seminary training, Billy has been equipping pastors and planting churches among some of the hardest-to-reach people groups of Malawi, the Yaos, who are predominantly Muslim, and the Chewas who are an indigenous people group. Billy also serves as an itinerate evangelist, preaching God’s redeeming love to many who live in remote villages that would otherwise have no access to Christian teaching.
Malawi is the fourth poorest African country and as such the reality of accessing safe drinking water, proper sanitation, food, and health care are significant challenges. Along with his preaching and teaching opportunities, Billy is actively involved in meeting these physical and practical needs through the development of water well projects, food distribution, and caring for orphans. In addition to his current ministry work, Billy is working towards opening a Bible School, a nursery and primary school and hoping to plant 10 more churches over the next few years.
“Billy gives more of his personal time and funds (to those in need) then anyone I know, though he has less than anyone else I know.” – K.J., Canadian supporter
Billy’s love for the Lord and for his fellow Malawians is evident in all that he does. Prayerfully consider how you might be able to support Billy in the ministry work God has called him to in Malawi, Africa. Your support could have an incredible eternal impact in one of the poorest countries in the world.
“…I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me.” – Jesus, Matthew 25:40
