I am grateful to partner with 24/7 Prayer Canada and GCF in this faith and community building work. My mission includes three categories with fluid boundaries: pastoral outreach, guest speaking, and arts engagement.
The weekly rhythms of the ministry include prayer meetings; remotely and in person, pastoral visits in hospitals, homes and on the street, a recovery support and Bible study group, prayer walking in the neighbourhood and advocating when needed. The heart behind the work is to shepherd individuals who don’t feel welcome in the mainstream church and to connect them with the wider body of Christ through relationships.
The Downtown Eastside has much wisdom to offer when it comes to diversity in the body of Christ. I am passionate about the wider Church and am open to facilitating dialogue about God’s expansive heart for the poor, and the upside down, counter cultural Kingdom of Heaven.
Visual Art is integral in the work I do. As a socially engaged artist, I have participated in various community arts programs that lead to impactful collaborations. I am a muralist; which provides a meaningful way to engage with the neighbourhood through creativity. The outreach work fuels what I make in the studio and vice versa.
None of this work would be possible without an amazing group of people behind me. I am thankful for the many who have poured into the ministry; financial gifts, prayers, advice/encouragement and wisdom. Thank you for walking with me, and so many others in the DTES.
