About This Project:

Famille de Bethlehem (Bethlehem Family) is a registered NGO in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) that is focused on caring for widows and orphans.   It was established in 1981 and currently works with over 130 children in two homes:  one located in the city of Bukavu, the other 25 minutes out of the city, in Katana.  In total over 500 children have passed through the two homes since its establishment.

Most of these children have been orphaned or separated from their families through the circumstances of war, violence, accidents, and maternal mortality.

Bethlehem Family works to ensure that children have access to health care, schooling, school uniforms and shoes and regular food.  These children grow up in a stable, loving environment, with hope for their future, and a place to call home.   This is made possible through donations from people in Canada and around the world.
