The Generations Development Mission (GENDEMI) is a Christian, non-governmental organization in Kampala, Uganda. GENDEMI rescues orphaned, abandoned, abused, and impoverished girls who have no where to go. Recognizing that education for girls has the potential to impact generations and a whole society, the mission exists to equip each one of these vulnerable young people to discover, develop, and maximize their potential so that they may live healthy, productive lives, strong in faith and fellowship with Jesus Christ.
GENDEMI’s vision is to care for, educate, and disciple these girls in the knowledge of God in such a way that they each can discover for themselves a life of blessing and influence, resulting in generations that thrive in development and truth.
BACKGROUND: In 2017 GENDEMI developed a pre-school for neighborhood children. This pre-school was a microenterprise ancillary to GENDEMI’s primary mission that grew out of its home-schooling experience with some of its sponsored girls. It soon found that revenue from the school was sufficient to supplement the orphan ministry.
By projecting the earnings of the school, GENDEMI discovered that it could become fully self-supporting with a school enrollment of 300 if it owned its own building that would both house the girls and provide classrooms for the children in grades pre-school through primary three.
In 2021 land owned by friends of the Mission was transferred to GENDEMI for this purpose. A building project team was assembled and a building plan and architecture designed. Construction of the building will begin, pending the establishment of a mechanism for disbursing the funds donated for the building project by individuals in the USA and Canada
