Lebanon is no stranger to crises. Having endured 18 years of civil and regional wars, followed by 30 years of foreign occupation, it left the government crippled and much of the country’s infrastructure in ruins. Decades of corruption led to a sharp devaluation of the local currency, while soaring unemployment and political instability are pushing more families below the poverty line each day. The COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating explosion in downtown Beirut have only exacerbated the dire situation in Lebanon.
Adding to the country’s challenges, Lebanon currently hosts the world’s highest per capita population of refugees, with families seeking shelter and basic necessities after fleeing war and violence. The ongoing refugee crisis deepens the suffering experienced by both Lebanese and refugee families, leaving many overwhelmed by despair.
Ministry Overview:
Heart for Lebanon is dedicated to assisting families facing dire circumstances, with a focus on widows and orphans who grapple with the challenging realities of life in Lebanon. Through a personalized assessment of each family’s unique needs, They provide essential survival items such as supplemental food, hygiene supplies, wood stoves, bedding, and mattresses, ensuring their immediate well-being. In addition, their organization places a strong emphasis on programs like Family Care and Education, Relational Engagement Ministries, and Spiritual Formation Ministries, enabling them to establish intentional, supportive relationships with the families they serve. Their approach is purposefully designed to bridge short-term gaps without encouraging dependency while fostering spiritual healing and restoration.
