Su Refugio Ministries exists to care for orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27) in South America. We reach hungry children with physical and spiritual nourishment and equip single mothers with skills that help provide for their families. In Paraguay, Su Refugio provides holistic care to children who have been rescued from abuse and neglect, and in Argentina we offer excellent Christian education to vulnerable children. At 14 locations throughout Peru, impoverished children are reached with physical, spiritual, and academic support. In every program, our ultimate goal is to share the hope of the gospel and make Christ known.
The work of our ministry presents several challenges, for which Su Refugio is actively pursuing solutions. In Paraguay, we are working to develop and implement an age-out program that will help rescued children age out as independent Christian adults. Our Christian school in Argentina has been granted full approval for kindergarten, which creates the need to secure scholarships for disadvantaged children. To that end, we are seeking a sister school that can partner with us. In the Comas barrio in Lima, Peru, there is a need for a center specializing in helping abused children and widows. We designed the Casa Esperanza Nueva to solve this problem. Completing construction and hiring full-time staff (psychologist, social worker, attorney, foster parents) are the needs facing us today. Finally, expanding our donor base is an ever-present challenge. Su Refugio has been applying for foundation grants, engaging churches to pack food and join mission trips, and developing business partnerships. We are seeking to recruit a grant expert to assist in this area.
By sponsoring a child, making a donation, or spreading the word, you can help provide practical and spiritual help to orphans and widows, a vulnerable group that is precious in the eyes of our Lord. Please join us in fulfilling the commission of James 1:27 today!
*You will receive an official Canadian tax receipt for all eligible donations by the end of February of the following year. Thank you for your support of the mission and programs of The Great Commission Foundation (“GCF”).
